Would You Kindly
Now that the current season of Conchords is over, my favorite new TV show is Dexter on Showtime.
Showtime’s really coming up these days. Weeds is very good, and this show Dexter is an extremely entertaining piece of work. It mixes CSI with an avenging angel anti-hero — very satisfying. The show is also fantastically shot with neat tableaus and beautiful violence. I will be watching very closely from now on.

I took a meeting in an office that happened to be right next to Stan Lee Productions. There were many action figures present. I looked extra hard for Mr. Lee but I did not see him.
I like meetings. They give you free Diet Coke. Speaking of which, some very cool people call Diet Coke “DC”. “I will have a DC,” they will say. That is too cool for me, so I don’t do that.
I’m learning how to use Corel Painter. The interface is a lot like Photoshop; where it diverges from Photoshop is where it creates annoyances. For instance, a ctrl-click on the Zoom tool doesn’t zoom out — it does nothing. If you’re going to copy an interface, at least do a good job of it. This is reminiscent of Anssi Vanjoki, an executive at Nokia, who says of the iPhone: “If there is something good in the world then we copy with pride.” Copying is fine and good, but don’t great artists just go ahead and steal?
